What happens if I walk away from my rental property?
It’s underwater by half of what I purchased it for. I bought it as a primary residence as a single woman, never re-fied, never put hubby on title. It’s now vacant and bleeding cash. If I walk, I’ll ruin my credit but will it hurt my husbands credit since he’s not on title OR loan? Can the mortgage company put a lien on my house if I default on the rental? Garnish my wages? We only have retirement assets and our house is under water too. Just trying to stop the bleeding. Thanks in advance.
