Should my mother’s name go on the house’s deed?

My mother and step father bought a house around five years ago. They both put in a lot of money into the house. He placed the most money; however, my mother put all of the money she had in it (roughly $ 20,000 in down payment). They make mortgage payments together and assume responsibility by half in all the bills related to the house. They renovated the entire house over the past four years and have paid the debt together. While completing my fafsa the other day, I noticed something very peculiar. The house is not in my mother’s name. The house is titled as my step-father’s property only. After all the hard work that she’s put in the house and all of the humiliations she’s had to put up with, I think its only fair that her name is on that deed as well. What say you fellows?
