I live in Oregon and had an acoount with at@t that was sold to South West Credit Systems (Collection agency). I called them and they agreed to a settlement. I never got it in writing but they did report it to the agencies as legally settled in full for less than full balance. I also kept my copies of cashiers check and certified letter documents. Now a new agency is trying to collect the remaing balance of $ 350 and reported it to the credit bureaus. They also reported a different account number. Not sure if that matters maybe they make their own account numbers. Can they do that? I read that was illegal in Oregon. What can I do? I have almost completly fixed my past credit problems now this last one is really hurting my scores. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
