I filed chapter 7 and got it discharged in July 2012. Since then, I left it all alone for a while and over the past 9 months or so I have been actively rebuilding my credit. Below, you will read about the questions I have as far as rebuilding, cleaning up and more. When you respond please be clear what you’re referring to. I would greatly appreciate that. Thank you very much!
After the Bankruptcy in 2012
I had over 30 negative accounts ranging from utilities to cards etc. I had one car loan that I requested to be kept on my credit since it was paid on time every time and I wanted that positive-looking account left on my credit. Over 90% of the negative accounts were promptly removed from my credit after the bankruptcy but some still remain.
Department of Ed/NAVIENT disaster
I had 2 defaulted student loans which I rehabilitated and paid off this year. Part of the agreement for rehab was that they would delete the negative loans off of my credit, create new loans on my credit and report the payment progress since the time of the rehab agreement. However, that wasn’t the case, they got their money and I am still badly damaged from the ‘old’ accounts still showing as very late and unpaid.
Experian reports one set of 2 accounts from Navient and they are paid and closed.
Experian also reports an account from Department od Ed/Navient that is current/closed with OK history.
There are also 2 more Navient accounts that show as ‘Potentially Negative Closed”.
These are the accounts that were supposed to be removed from my credit after successful rehabilitation of my loans.
One account is reported by Experian only.
One account is reported by both Experian and Equifax.
TransUnion does not have an iron in this fire.
Here are the accounts:
DOE/Navient – opened 01/2015, reported from 01-2015 thru 04-2015, closed and current. Reported by Experian and TU as closed but Experian as OPEN.
Navient 1 – Opened 12/2005. reported Apr 2013 thru Mar 2015, all as OK. Potentially negative closed. Reported by Experian and TU as closed but Experian as OPEN.
Navient 2 – Opened 12/2005. reported Jun 2009 thru May 2011. 4 OK, 9 ND, 1 90, 9 120, and 1 CO. Potentially negative closed. Reported by Experian as closed but Experian as OPEN.
Navient 3 – Opened 12/2005. reported Dec 2014 thru Jan 2015. all as OK. Current closed. Reported by Experian only.
Navient 4 – Opened 12/2005. reported Dec 2014 thru Jan 2015. all as OK. Current closed. Reported by Experian only.
I’ve called several times to Navient regarding the issue and they said they would fix it. Other calls to them have resulted in me being instructed to call the people who handled my defaulted loans before rehab – USA Funds. However, USA Funds doesn’t have an iron in the fire anymore either becuase they removed their accounts, of which they conveniently had 6 on my credit (for just 2 loans!!!)
After rehabilitation, the 2 loans were consolidated into one – not with my permission – and then I ended up paying it all off because I got tired of their constant disorganization.
I am not sure what to do here, so any and all advice would be appreciated.
State Tax Lien Released
Ohio claims I did not file taxes int he school district I moved into back in 2008. I am sure I did, but I didn’t even get accused of this until 2013. I had no knowledge of this accusation or Negative Public Record on my credit until mid 2014, and paid the lien off in March 2015. I’d like to know if I can dispute this lien off of my credit since it’s been paid for or what course of action I can take to get rid of this NPR faster. 1 NPR is better than 2, but I definitely can’t get the BK7 off for another several years lol.
