I’m ready to make full payment of past medical debt, but would prefer to do so with the original creditor, for reasons that cannot be discussed on this forum. I was surprised today when they refused to recall it- stating that they only do so when they messed up- and it showed that I had been properly notified, etc. It seemed senseless to me, since they’d get a greater portion of the money due if they recalled it.
Is this common? Are there any steps I can take? I’m tempted to just send a check in and see if they cash it. Would a better option be to try negotiating a PFD with the CA?
