Back in Sept, 2015 I joined a local credit union called Nusenda, opened up a Checking, Savings, and a secured $ 500 credit card. When I opened it, the woman told me that after a year of on time payments and responsible usage, that I would get my deposit back and possibly an increased CL to an unsecured card. So i’ve been using it, making large on time payments, sometimes even paying it off in full since then. Come September of last year, I was hoping to get notified about it, but haven’t heard anything. So today I called out of curiosity to find out how or when they do these annual reviews. The guy I spoke to told me that Nusenda doesn’t automatically graduate you to a unsecured card. To do that, I would have to apply for another card. And that if I wanted my deposit back, it would automatically close the account regardless of past history, and that my credit would no longer reflect my on time payment history. How can that be??? OMG I AM PISSED!! So my dilemma is do I go in and close the account, and get my money back? Its one of 5 cards I have now, with this one having NO rewards or interest benefit! I have currently the amazon prime CC, a cap one QS, the barclays apple rewards, and the amex blue cash. So keeping this one does absolutely nothing!!! I do have a balance of about $ 390 from Christmas, but I would still get money back if I closed it. But I don’t want to take a hit on my credit and utilization from closing it. ANY ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
