Question for mortgage loan officers or those with some experience with the process?
Is this true?
I went to a new home builder, and the salesperson told me that we (me and my pseudo husband) could combine our incomes to qualify for the home we wanted, even though my pseudo husband has terrible credit? Is this true? I qualify by myself, but not for the house we want. We CAN afford it together, but he has terrible credit, and I never considered having both of us on a mortgage loan for that reason.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Oh, and his terrible credit is the result of dumb decisions 7 or 8 years ago. These things are almost written off. He hasn’t had anything on his credit for at least 5 years.
