My landlord wants me to name them as an insured on my renters insurance. Is this OK?
I live in a condo, and my landlord (a commercial real estate company) is requiring me (and all other tenants) to name them as an insured on my renter’s insurance policy. They want me to have these words put on my policy: “ABC Commercial Management Agent for Owners is included as additional insured. Waive right of subrogation as respects workers comp” and the landlord company wants themselves named as an insured on the policy. (I made up the ABC name)
Right now I have only myself named as the insured on my renter’s insurance, and that’s the way I’ve always had it everywhere I’ve rented.
Not sure what to make of this. Is this OK? Why do they want me to do this? What does “waive right of subrogation as respects workers comp” mean?
