Is it better for credit rating score to leave accounts with a 0/zero balance open, or to close them?

Is it better for your credit rating score to leave accounts with a 0/zero balance open, or to close the account?

Due to a ridiculously high APR I just transferred my 4 year old credit card account (in good standing) with Washington Mutual – to my open Capital One Credit card (also in good standing with a MUCH lower APR).

Would it be better, for my credit score, to also shut down the WaMu 0/zero balance account, or should I leave it open?
