We recently submitted an offer on a short sale property. The offer was submitted 10 days before the listing agent would show the house as well as the sellers would review the offers. Our agent followed up on the first date in the morning and the selling agent indicated that a list price offer had been accepted. Our offer was $50k+ over list price and included all of the necessary proof of funds, pre-qual letter, etc…I can’t help but feel the offer that was accepted is an inside deal, considering the seller didn’t accept the highest offer (the agent even disclosed this to us!). We really have no recourse but are so frusterated that an over list price offer wasn’t accepted. I’m sure the bank would like to know that the seller left over $50k on the table! Any thoughts?
