Founded in 1828, the Guerlain house is one of the oldest, but also one of the most luxurious fashion houses around the world. She has been recognized as a supplier to all the courts in Europe as well as an official and preferred supplier to Empress Eugenie. For this occasion Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain dedicated a perfume “Eau de Cologne Impériale” to him. In 1889, Aimé Guerlain imagined “Jicky”, a fragrance that completely broke with the fashion of the time. If the fragrance is intended for women, it will be adopted mainly by men. In 1912, the Guerlain brand created “L’Heure Bleue”, a time when man and nature came together in harmony.

When creating “L’Heure Bleue”, Jacques Guerlain affirmed “The sun has set, yet night has not fallen, it is the suspended hour … The hour when man finally finds himself in harmony with the world of light… ”“ L’Heure Bleue ”reveals a summer evening, an evening when time has stood still, when time has lost its sun, but where it has not yet found its stars. “L’Heure Bleue” represents Jacques Guerlain’s favorite moment, nightfall. “L’Heure Bleue” is both a flowery essence, romantic, oriental, and aromatic. Upon its release, “L’Heure Bleue” was described as a true masterpiece and also a “historic monument” of perfumery. With “L’Heure Bleue”, the Guerlain house wanted to offer a perfume full of poetry. “L’Heure Bleue” is a hymn to the sweetness of life. “L’Heure Bleue” is defined as an armful of sweet flowers, enveloped in a powdery breath, mixed with oriental notes. “L’Heure Bleue” opens with fresh notes of bergamot combined with aniseed notes. An armful of carnations submerges the heart of “L’Heure Bleue”, then paired with orange blossom, rose and tuberose while the whole is enhanced by cloves. The base is sensual and powdery and gives “L’Heure Bleue” its sweet notes. It is composed of powdered iris, vanilla, benzoin, white musks and heliotrope. Designed by Raymond Guerlain, the bottle is a real precious jewel and resembles that of “Mitsouko”. The bottle reflects the influence of the “Art Nouveau” movement.
