In my efforts to straighten up my credit history, one of the biggest baddies I have to deal with is a BofA secured CC which I had ‘sock drawered’, but a family member was using it without my knowledge (we have very similar first names) and maxed it out.

Confusing the collections notice with another older BofA TL I’d already paid for years ago, I wound up paying in settlement. I only found out a year later, as I began getting organized and learning more about credit, that I realized what had happened. Needless to say, I was furious and disappointed.

I want to try for a letter of GW to ask for a deletion, since this account will be sitting on my report until 2015, but I do not want my family member to get in trouble for credit card fraud.

      Any suggestions?
